Windrush Generation: The scandal that shook Britain expla...
Description: The Windrush generation, campaigners and politicians discuss the scandal in a Channel 4 News special just yards from the Home Office. Watch it all live here.
The Home Secretary has said all victims who are fighting to be British will get citizenship and compensation. Will our audience, many of whose lives have been ruined by the crisis, believe her?
Joining our live debate will be Labour MP David Lammy, who described the Windrush controversy as a "day of national shame", and leading Conservative Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg.
You might think the government's spectacular U-turn on the Windrush generation has solved the problem. They will now be able to get British passports free. It should never have happened, said the Home Secretary, as she finally promised to fix it. But why did she suddenly change her mind after months and years of ignoring the outrage?
And is Windrush a unique mistake - caused by officials? Or was it the policy? The political atmosphere - a toxic, racist undercurrent driven by public alarm about immigration? And has the government actually solved the problem? Or are there many scandals unfixed?
Tonight we have gathered those directly affected, whose lives have been ruined, together with leading politicians, campaigners and thinkers, And we'll be live in Jamaica. What does it say about us? This Britain?

Making Social Responsibility the Main Course: Iqbal Wahhab
Description: This talk titled "Making Social Responsibility the Main Course: Social change and good business in the restaurant world" was given by Iqbal Wahhab, OBE, FRSA (Founder of Roast and The Cinnamon Club) on 2 December 2015 as part of the SOAS Food Studies Centre lecture series.
In this lecture, restaurateur and social campaigner Iqbal Wahhab will speak about the importance customers, employees and wider stakeholders place on the social impact of restaurants.
The Bangladesh-born founder of The Cinnamon Club and Roast will describe his involvement in food start-ups, his engagement with ex-offenders, and his support for a project to enable unemployed women to come off benefits and into work in the catering industry. These initiatives have not only empowered such groups but also redressed skills shortages, improved employee retention and attracted new customers who share the values of a company that is undertaking such initiatives.
In support of his argument that social responsibility should no longer be a side dish but rather the main course, Wahhab will highlight the work of other restaurants and organisations that have developed viable businesses around core values emphasising similar forms of social engagement.

Roots, Reggae, Rebellion
Description: BBC Documentary
British rapper and poet Akala tells the story of roots reggae, when a group of Jamaican musicians took songs of Rastafari, revolution and hope to the international stage. In the 1970s, Jamaica came alive to the sounds of roots reggae. British rapper, poet and political commentator Akala tells the story of this golden period in the island's musical history, a time when a small group of musicians took songs of Rastafari, revolution and hope to the international stage.Growing up in London, Akala's family immersed him in roots reggae from an early age so he has a very personal connection to the culture. It has informed his own songwriting, poetry and political worldview, but it's an upbringing that he now feels he's taken for granted. In this documentary, Akala sets out to find out more about the music that has had such an impact on his life. He begins by exploring the music's origins in Jamaica where it offered hope to ordinary people at a time when poverty, political violence and turmoil were ravaging the island. Artists like Bob Marley, Big Youth and Burning Spear began to write about suffering and salvation through Rastafari in their songs. Akala unpicks how all of this evolved.Back in the UK, Akala reveals how the Jamaican artists and our own British roots reggae bands like Steel Pulse became a cultural lifeline for young black people who were experiencing racism and rejection in their own country. He shows how roots reggae also related to a wider audience, its revolutionary message connecting with an increasingly marginalised UK youth.
