The Story of the Turban
Description: This documentary traces the history of the turban in the Sikh religion, from its roots in India, through the battlefields of Europe, to the fight for British Sikhs to wear it without fear. It reveals that the turban is a crucial symbol of the Sikh faith - one that Sikhs will even risk their lives for
In September 2011, Sikhs from all over Britain gathered in Parliament Square to protest. The focus of their concern was the turban. Since the terrorist attacks of the 21st century Sikhs believe their turbans have singled them out for discrimination. In a case of mistaken identity the Sikhs claim they've been wrongly regarded as religious terrorists and subjected to increased airport security searches.

The Sikhs of Smethwick
Description: The Sikhs of Smethwick -BBC Documentary
Midlands filmmaker Billy Dosanjh celebrates 50 years of the Sikhs in his hometown of Smethwick, from their arrival in the late 1950s and early 60s to the present day. Using rare archive and the frank personal testimony of different generations of Smethwick's Sikhs, he explores the experiences of the changing traditions and the challenges to centuries old traditions - especially in love and marriage - that life in modern Britain brings.
Using rare and unseen archive Billy goes on a moving journey through space and time - from farm life in northern India to the searing heat of work in the steel factories of Britain's Black Country; from extreme rural poverty to the have-it-all consumer culture of today; from strict traditions to a world of tolerance and the modern permissive society.
Billy tells of the hostility and tough working conditions the first Sikhs experienced when they arrived in Smethwick. He shows the old customs that they tried to keep from their impoverished villages in the Punjab. Examining the challenges of the modern world and how their traditions have evolved, especially when it comes to love and marriage, Billy gives a personal insight to the world of his community, and the way its culture has adapted across the generations to the challenges of life in modern Britain.

Muslim questions a Sikh - Dawah Man VS Basics of Sikhi
Description: Basics of Sikhi organised the Urban Turban Sikhi Awareness event in Hounslow. Imran Ibn Mansur Khan (AKA Dawah Man) from Islam Hounslow approached us for a short Q&A. It lasted one hour and was filmed. Note, we were not looking to debate them and neither are we interested in criticising Islam or trying to prove its flaws or even trying to prove Sikhi to them. Therefore, most of the conversation is revolved around the questions by Brother Imran (Dawah Man). We thank him and the Islam Hounslow team for being very civil on the day. As Guruji teaches us, we are all human and should try and get along in spite of our differences, as the greater good lies in recognising our similarities. May Vaheguru/Allah help us all to have compassion in our hearts and to submit our ego to his will and call upon his Name. Vaheguru! Here is a link to Guru Nanak Dev ji's writings on Islam (for a Sikh, this is Gods own view on Islam) http://www.sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp... - lets hope that the Islam Hounslow team may be true Muslims of this type. Vaheguru.
